That colour is much better in person; my buddy has a P in that red and it is gorgeous.

I was debating swapping for a black or pearloid pickguard, but I'm going to strongly consider tortoiseshell now too.

Tortoiseshell with rosewood or Ebony is nice. If it had a maple fretboard then a pearloid would fit better IMHO

$600. I offered more and she finally accepted $700. It was one of those things where regardless of price, it didn't have any worth to her and she just wanted it gone.

Edit: by more I mean I originally offered $750. Weirdest haggling I've ever done.

Great finish, and I think tort would complement it extremely well. My Chrome Red Jazz now has a Fender Black Sparkle guard, which looks fantastic with the red. I'm not sure they still make them, or how easy they are to find. Heck, I don't even remember where I found mine! I bought it for my Midnight Blue G&L JB, but found it looked much cooler with the red. This thread has a pic I posted a while back:

Okay, so...

In an effort to begin to consolidate and upgrade my bass collection I've been hunting for some "staple basses". A Fender American Precision was always number one on that list. I've been searching Reverb and Craigslist, and saving to reach the goal. Out of the blue, I went to Craigslist tonight and saw, "posted one hour ago" and I immediately got in contact with the seller.

Her friend owned a music store that closed down and he gave her a couple of instruments. She picked this one out and never played it for about four years before deciding that she just didn't want it around the house anymore. I talked her up, yes UP to $700 with the case. It still has all of the case candy and the plastic over the pickguard.

I'm honestly still in shock, but I'm now the owner of a Fender American Precision Bass.
