Okay, so... In an effort to begin to consolidate and upgrade my bass collection I've been hunting for some "staple basses". A Fender American Precision was always number one on that list. I've been searching Reverb and Craigslist, and saving to reach the goal. Out of the blue, I went to Craigslist tonight and saw, "posted one hour ago" and I immediately got in contact with the seller. Her friend owned a music store that closed down and he gave her a couple of instruments. She picked this one out and never played it for about four years before deciding that she just didn't want it around the house anymore. I talked her up, yes UP to $700 with the case. It still has all of the case candy and the plastic over the pickguard. I'm honestly still in shock, but I'm now the owner of a Fender American Precision Bass.
Is that CAR? I’ve got the Jazz version with a tortoise pick guard. They look incredible together IMHO.
It is, and it has some subtle sparkle to it that the pictures don't do justice. I went there knowing that I was saving for a black body but once I saw it in person, I fell in love with the color.
Agreed. It’s subtle and comes alive under stage lights. Love it!!! Trust me, check out the tortoise on red look. Drool
I was debating swapping for a black or pearloid pickguard, but I'm going to strongly consider tortoiseshell now too.
Good for you, not taking advantage! AND you now own the best bass ever made! Sell everything else; you're there!
Great bass you can't go wrong with the Am.Std Precision I love mine. And well done for not ripping her off and paying a decent price, & still coming out with a bargain.
I'm not a Jazz person but I couldn't resist an incredible offer on one of the last Standards before they switched to the Pros. And statistics don't lie: it's had playing time every single day for over one year now. And I'm still not a Jazz person: it's not my tone, it's not my body shape, it's not my neck profile. But darnit, this thing is so well made. Congrats on the great find + elegance.
Such a great moment, being in the right time AND the right place... ... doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, E.F. Hutton listens... ... stay sirsty, my friend.
