NBD - 2013 Modern Player Jazz

Sweetwater only has the two tone... :(

Personally, i'm digging that SB like crazy!! I can imagine the white with RW board is gonna be awesome too.

BUT--- here's my big "but" regarding this series.... i haven't played a chinese Fender. I'm guessing most of the squier line is made there, but is the QC on a chinese "Fender" really THAT good? I just dont have experience with them .

if you've played a classic vibe squier I think you'll have a good feel for the build quality. the upgraded electronics and wood are different. the quality of the classic vibe stuff has always been really solid. sometimes you even get a little bonus like a quartersawn neck just by luck of the draw with the Chinese factory stuff.

Awesome. Im thinking this is worth taking the chance on.

Definitely, I'm very glad I picked one up to try. Even if it's the same build quality as the CV range (although, it feels better than the ones I've played), the hi-mass bridge, the ability to have any combination of humbuckers and singlecoils, the easy access truss adjuster etc are more than worth the small jump up in price.

If you do try one, let us know what you thought!

So i just called my Sweetwater rep and reserved the ONE MP Jazz V they have coming in - the 2-tone SB model. It's not gonna be in stock until the 31st, so i wont be getting it until after that obviously. I will do a review, i owned an American Jazz V for 15 years before it was stolen in January, i should be able to to a decent comparison.

:bassist:

What is the Fender Badass clone like? Looks like it's one hefty chunk of metal. I'm very tempted to save for a Dimension or one of the 4 banger Jazzes.

I like seeing Fender step out of their comfort zone a little with the Dimension - not a Jazz or Precision remake (not that redoing either of these is bad, as evidenced by this new Modern Player series).

Yeah the 2 tone burst finish is nice with the black pickguard
