NBD: 2019 Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird

These are really good basses! It's one of the models Epiphone DIDN'T mess up (unlike the earlier batches of the Embassy which couldn't be intonated because they had installed the bridge in the wrong position and the Newports where they've used a bridge with too wide pickup spacing for the mudbucker, making the E and/or G-string extremely weak sounding, as well as some other issues..)

The pickups in the Vintage Pro are fantastic too. I like them far better than the ones in current Gibson T-bird.

Congrats!

I feel this, especially since there was a white 'Bird hanging in the LMS window the last time I was down there. I'm trying very hard to ignore it.
It would be the Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV for me. Natural oil finish and neck-through. That's the one that gets my GAS bubbling up! 😍

Again: cannot leave well enough alone!

Opened her up: what nice clean wiring.
No cavity shielding :( will copper tape when replacing the pots.
Already B500k linear Alphas !? Nice.
(Tokyo Cosmos wil still be an improvement)

I have no idea what the cap value is, or the tone pot resistance.

Very nice! I've wondered how good the pickups in those are. Would be an inexpensive way to scratch the Thunderbird itch
Definitely good, per @godofthunder59 they are as good as the pickup in the actual vintage Tbirds, if not better.

Some say they are thin/ bass shy ;
this is not my (brief) assessment!

Just needs a black pickguard with the gold logo or gold pickguard with black logo. Theirs a seller on reverb that sells them for $40-$50. They have like 8 different sizes so it's best to measure before buying.
I’m looking to put a dark grey brushed steel look or gold anodized :)
Maybe

I love these aesthetically. Ergonomically... not so much. I still get the urge sometimes - it'd look great down the folk club! 😁 Cracking job you've done with it - enjoy!
PS The brass nut is gorgeous! I keep meaning to replace mine, coming from a time when brass nuts were highly regarded. 👴
I installed a brass nut on my '64 II. Factory nut was cut 'off'. Brass nuts add an extra bit of zing to the classic T-bird tone.

This simple trick ends any neck-dive.

The 760 Probuckers are some of my favorite Thunderbird pickups ever. They have the mild inherent distortion, treble zip and zing of the 60's units, maybe a little a little less bass response but nothing your eq can't add in. I buy them whenever I can.

Very good! I don't think they're far from a good P bass pickup with a bit more midrange width. When I had a Gibson 'Bird, I installed these and they were a BIG upgrade over the stock TB-plusses which were black plastic, deaf, dumb, and blind.
