NBD - 50's style precision with a metal flake refin

I bought this bass quite a while ago, with the sole purpose of it being refinished by a young man from my church. He is gifted and hard working and is planning to attend Luthier school this fall. He has been refinishing guitars for a while and does a great job. I wanted large metal flake and he wanted to give it a go.

In all honesty, he hated doing the large metal flake and says he might just stick to more standard refinishing. That being said, I like the finished product! Pickguard arrived today so I snapped some pictures.

And before. Not bad, but not blingy.

Lovely. And that’s my style of bass (I have the Sting signature Precision). I like the original finish a lot but that refin is totally unique and very tasteful. Btw, I have a Fralin ‘51 split pickup in mine and it’s golden.
