Me and a buddy took a ride up to Sweetwater today, he came home with a really nice Les Paul and this '62 AVRI followed me home...



I have been wanting to check one out for some time and it just rocks..!

Do the new ones still come with the bridge and pickup covers? Yours doesn't seem to have the holes.

I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Fender send them out without the covers on (to give owners the option of whether or not they want them on.)

If you look closely you can see two holes on the pickguard ready for screws.

Yeah I see the holes in the pick guard, but I don't see any holes next to the bridge, which makes me think those holes are just in the guard and not the body. I'm wondering if you'd have to have holes drilled in the wood if you bought a new AVRI and wanted to use the covers.

Sorry, should have made myself clearer, (just finished the night shift in work) that's what I meant; the covers are just part of the case candy and it's down to you if you want to drill for screws or not.

Yes, you have to drill holes or have them drilled if you want to put covers on.

I drilled those holes, and I have to admit that I don't keep the covers on. They're in the way, it's a simple as that. You can learn to live with them, but I chose not to.

Doesn't change the fact that covers are very sexy.

Yes, the bridge and PU covers come with it, but there are no holes drilled in the bass. The pickguard has holes though.

I don't see me putting them on, they look awesome, but I think would get in my way

Just got back from my first rehearsal with the '62 and I can't say enough about it. It played great and sounded even better!

These AV's are great basses, essentially a custom shop bass at a fraction of the price.
