NBD - '66 Jazz

are you a bass player or someone who collects bass guitars?

The two are not mutually exclusive, and I cant imagine why anyone would think that they are. It's simply a case of finances. Those who can, do. Those who can't, don't.

Many of the greatest/famous players have a healthy, if not vast, collection of instruments.

Two standouts that instantly come to mind are John Entwistle and Stephen Stills. Are/were they "players" or "collectors" ? Obviously, the answer is "both".

Anyway, nice score on that 66 dots 'n pops.

Great bass! Love the transition ones with bound necks but dots instead of blocks!

Here is my 66, i gig it but try to take something else if i know the place is going to be dodgy!
It has seen some pretty hardcore gigs though!

Gig it but make sure you always have an eye on it...

the originals from the 60's had the torquoise silk at both ends. in the 90's it was only on the bridge end. the new 9050's again now have it at both ends. the ones that are .050-.100 can put alot of tension on the neck. i use the new 9050SL's (.040, .060. .080 .100). they don't have too much tension and are again one of my favorite flats on a fender.

I absolutely love this bass. You are a very lucky man. I would not be able to leave it out of eyesight/hands if I owned it.

My '66 wants to come to the reunion!

The neck, hardware, and electronics are all original, but the body had been refinned when I got it, so I sent it to JohnK_10 and he restored it for me.
