NBD '77 Ibanez double neck SG/EB-3 copy

I am jealous i need to find a double neck

Well, the bridge solved the intonation issue but did NOT help me to narrow the string spacing like I'd hoped.

When I put the E and G across the saddles, closer to the bass' midline, the saddles just spread apart :-(. Either way, I seem to have no issues with pulling the G off the fretboard so for now I'm happy.

Tomorrow I'll remove the bass neck and tap the 20th fret back down. The end under the G has lifted. The rest of the strings have insanely low action!

I'll use my dremel to cut the pickguard material to allow for the neck pickup, and remove the Tele pup and drop in the bridge humbucker.

I may just take it to a local tech and have him finish the wiring since he'll have a switch and a lot more "know how".

Good score. I recall having one of those in the dark red color in the early 80's. Never could get the hang of it but glad you are enjoying yours.

I think you need to put back a Gibson style bridge to really make the strings line correctly
You have the two large holes underneath your current bridge already

I'm not a big fan of the Gibson bridge design, but I just might have to go that route :-/.

Right now, I have two holes... looks like some Gibson bridges require 3, but I have a drill .

I'll research this some more... Thanks.

Your doing it more justice then I would , very sweet double neck combo never thought of a SG and EB combo.

Thanks for the link, but after researching a bit.... for $25 more I can get the Hipshot black bridge that is designed for the 2-hole Gibsons. 1)No drilling, 2)better sustain, intonation, and ease of use, and 3)no added chrome clashing w/ the existing gold hardware. The dang gold one is $40 more than the black !

I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a BADASS bridge that I could slot myself. But after looking at a BADASS that I have on a Fender, I realized that I still would not be able to get the spacing narrow enough. The intonation screws would contact the strings and/or the saddle height allen screws would get in the way.

I've also decided to spray the chrome bridge 'bucker p'up w/ some semi-flat gold paint. Sounds silly, but the shottier it looks, the more it'll look "correct" LOL since the rest of the hardware is so worn .

Keep the input coming guys, I really appreciate the help, kind words, and suggestions!

I've been looking on ebay... not any gold hardware equipped double neck Ibby SG/EB-3s listed recently. There was the common looking trans-cherry (AC/DC's Angus-like ) finished one w/ chrome hardware that sold for a great price though. Looked all original and had the case too!

Plenty of KILLER vintage Ibby dbl-neck 12/6 string guitars though. Makes me ALMOST wish I was a full-blown guitard.... just a little.

Got the high 19th fret edge tapped down and the guard cut for the neck pup.

And good point about using it in projects! Imagine what you could do w/ a looper pedal LIVE!! I've got a Boss RC-20XL that I got in trade gathering dust somewhere.

I didn't get as much accomplished today because my 13 yr old daughter (singer) and her bass playing boyfriend wanted to jam today. :-D

I played the guit-fiddle half and showed her bf the basslines on the other half--man this thing is handy and fun! We played some Flyleaf and No Doubt stuff.

Anyways... I decided to go ahead and pull the tele single coil and drop in the bridge bucker. Simple 2 wire solder connection, but the blasted pup housing doesn't match up. So, I had to improvise and make it work using a mix of old and new parts.

Nice to see someone replaceing the gibson type bridges those ibanez's came with. Id of gone with hipshot though for string spaceing adjustments. Never could get a really satisfying sound from the bass on the vintage 70's Ibanez doubleneck EBO3/SG I bought in the late 90's to give me a doubleneck similair to the one I had back then. Used BC Rich bdsm humbucker pups in the guitar side quite nicely though. Nice white Ibanez doubleneck btw.

I've decided to get a Hipshot bridge. Had I thought a little harder I could have saved myself the problem of buying/installing the Fender bridge. Live and learn :-/
