NBD - 8-STRING TOBIAS!!!!

Received from CME is this DOPE 8 String Tobias that was allegedly the top half of a custom doubleneck. If ANYONE here has previously owned it, knows more of the story, has pics in its original state, PLEASE share them! I reached out to Mike, he thinks MAYBE it was one he built in the late 70s but this one could well be a 90s build.

It’s a 24 fret, 34’ scale passive bass with vol/vol/tone and mahogany neck and body. WEIGHT: 9lbs 8oz

I also bought it because it resembles a 5 string Tobias Chris Squire of Yes owned as well!!!

Thanks!!! I absolutely dig Squire's Puffer jacket thing as well!!! I imagine it was hot as well, but looks dope nonetheless!

I'd never heard of anything more than a 35" scale. 39?!? That's wild......need some long arms to make that stretch!

From Spinal Tap's it goes one louder school of logic. Chris HATED 5 string and resolved to have a longer neck for some WEIRD drop tuning, it could have been AEAD, I honestly don't remember but also, the thing had 28! frets on it as well!

Did you post this bass in a Facebook bass group recently? I swear I saw it, but can't find it (and I should be working!) I remember being like, "Tobias made an 8-string?" Cool to see it!
