NBD - A bit miffed

I got a new Spector Euro LT and just opened it up to find it wasn't what was in the picture. I asked the guy at GC, "Is the photo of the one I'm getting or a stock photo." His reply was, "Oh it's the bass you're getting." There was one left in stock. The first pic below is the stock photo. The next two are what I got. It's pretty much not even close. While finish isn't THAT important to me, this one looks super dull. I guess I'm not surprised coming from where I got it.

To me it's the same finish, so the guy wasn't lying. It's just that the stock photo has been edited possibly and the one you got isn't as glossy, the grain not as vivid. I would be disappointed a little but it's still a really nice looking bass.

Look at this 5 string version on Sweetwater. It looks more like yours than the stock photo you have Spector Euro 5 LT Bass Guitar - Blue Fade Gloss

IMO, the GC Salesdroid® lied to you. However, it is the same model and finish as the stock photo, so this makes it a decision you will have to make as to whether you keep it/return it/or ask for a reasonable discount to cover his lying about "Oh it's the bass you're getting."

As to the "dullness" of yours compared to the stock photo: digital images may not accurately reflect reality. ;)

Yeah, salesman was FOS or a moron and didn't understand the question. Honestly, I would be SUPER pissed because it's not even CLOSE. I can see where maybe it wouldn't "pop" like it does in the picture, but that's not really the issue in my book. The difference makes me think of the PRS grading system. You want fancy woodgrain and so on, you order and pay more for a "10" or whatever. If it's not a big deal to you and/or you can't afford that, you order a "5" and the wood grain is not as figured, etc.

I'd be taking it back.

I took him saying "it's the bass you're getting" as him confirming it's the same finish and model, not the exact bass. Because if there is only a stock photo, how can he say you're getting the exact bass?

Yeah when I went there to pick it up, they didn't even have time for me. And it was dead... I already spent my money, so in their eyes I can F right off.

You were viewing photos taken in a light booth that have clearly been digitally altered. It's hard to tell by your shaky potatocam photos whether the grain is the same or not. GC doesn't give any f***s though, if you don't like it, send it back because it isn't the same bass. Then buy from someone like Ish Guitars, FretNation, or Sweetwater that will send you photos of the bass you're actually buying.
