NBD!! After 30 Years, Finally Got My First Short Scale!

UPS dropped off this beauty about 3 hours ago - great thing on a Pandemic Monday! I present for your viewing pleasure (and my playing pleasure!) a 2017 Fender Mustang PJ - MIM - Butterscotch Blonde, Black pickguard, Maple fretboard....:smug:

Got a great deal from Chicago Music Exchange - $499 shipped. Kudos to Scott at CME - great guy to work with, provides stellar service. Bass came impeccably packed and perfectly setup. Tuned her up and action was spot on for me, what I call "medium low". No adjustments needed and intonation was fine. Very obvious CME took some time and made sure this bass was gonna arrive ready to play! Time to plug her in to the Rumble 500 and giver her a rip!:bassist:

LOVE the weight, the feel and playing so much faster from the git-go with the short scale neck... P pup only sounds like a P, punchy, midrangy goodness. J pup only is a bit noisy, but very good J bridge pup tones - maybe not as hot as the P pup. Blended is the tone I wanted - kinda of a best of both worlds for me!

Didn't take long...to take the stickers and protective plastic off! She's a keeper! :hyper:

So, yea, I'm doing alot of this - :D! Thanks for taking a peek, now it's back to the shed!

Yes - there is a bit of a learning curve - I tend to overstretch, but I'll get used to it. The older I get, the more I just might prefer as well!

The stock strings are just ok. I've got flats on my P and J, so just ordered some LaBella LTFs for the new stang!

Great choice for color and fretboard! Looks awesome, and I'm sure it sounds great.

I'll confess that I'm a little scared of shorties. And it's not that I dislike them; rather, I'm afraid I'd like one so much that I might have to revamp my whole lineup! That thought terrifies me. Fortunately, I haven't played one that's motivated me to take the plunge, but knowing the ways of GAS that's bound to happen.

Very nice. I'm really liking my JMJ Mustang. It has a unique "Mustangy" tone but still in the same family as a P that it works for me. ;)
