Feels great. The board doesn't feel different under the hand but the back is a different experience. It's like a super high-gloss maple neck.

If you find you’re getting stiction you could try putting a fabric bandage on your thumb where it contacts the back of the neck.

What are the frets like? Are they nickel? Are they glued in?

They're stainless steel frets. I can't tell how they're installed but I can't imagine needing to change them. I'm pretty sure they'll outlast my lifetime. I have a '78 Rick that still has life in it's frets. So...

I appreciate the feedback. I am a hobbyist/collector who has been playing for 30 years. I don't play out. And if I did, I'd probably use one of my other axes. Gas got to me since the pandemic and I bought every bass I ever wanted. I'm lucky to be able to (I also work for it). An aluminum neck guitar was one of the last 2 on the list. Last one is a single cut. But I can really wait.

Last thought here...anyone who has ever built out a parts bass knows that you're effectively over-paying for a custom instrument. I paid a hefty price tag for these parts and set up. I love what I've got here but would recommend treading lightly into the parts build world..

They are labors of love. But if done properly they can last a lifetime and well worth the investment.

Hollow neck eh? Might have to dip my toes back in, I had one of the first EGC Fender spec necks and it was nice but heavy. Neck dive city.

This is awesome I just got a mjt body and have a baguley aluminum neck coming. Was also considering going with a mirror guard.

hmmm, interesting bass for sure. Whenever I handle aluminum, my hands always seem to smell kind of funny. Wonder if thats the case with this neck ?

What I did was make a SoundCloud account and upload the link to the playlist as media, but if you have a DAW from your pc the simplest way would probably just exporting an mp3 using GarageBand (depending on your as setup, I use reaper)

The Aluminati necks are awesome. I have a Reggie Hamilton PJ with one of these necks with the carbon fiber board. I bought it a few months ago from a fellow TBr and I like it enough that I ordered one for a build I'm working on. They have a sharp attack (in a good way) and will sustain for as long as you want to hold the note. They're available with a brushed finish but if you have a polished finish you can simply make it a satin or brushed finish with some fine grade sandpaper. They're hollow and weigh no more than a wooden neck but the best thing about them is that will you never have to make a truss rod adjustment. The only downside is the price is a little more than a new American Fender neck but worth it in my opinion.

I have a feeling that the neck would be a liiiiiiitle temperature-sensitive, touch-wise....

I also live in Florida so a cold neck has not been an issue but if it was, a layer of masking tape on the back of the neck should help.
