NBD! American Professional II P

My SVT has been a bit of a saga. Bought it for a great price but quickly found out why…it was noisy. Took it to a guy that was recommended to me and he did absolutely nothing to make it quieter. Took it to another guy and despite a valiant effort and replacing most of the electrolitics, it was still noisy. Rediscovered a great guitar shop I hadn’t done business with in several years and found out he had tech that was supposed to be highly regarded. Dropped it off and he turned it around in a week. Replaced some leaking coupling caps and regrounded. While it’s definitely quieter, and while playing, negligible, there’s still a slight hum at idle. Admittedly I have a super low threshold for noise tolerance so it’s probably just something I’ll have to learn to deal with. Aside from that it sounds fantastic!
I’m in Northeast PA and took it to D-Town guitars. Not sure where you’re at but, I’d recommend them.

Your new bass is great. Unless it didn’t do the fundamental (pun intended) job for me, I would ignore minor flaws. They all start looking ‘road worn’ after a while.

It is my basement queen! I love big amps. On the six string side I have three 4x12 cabs (among other configurations). I play for enjoyment and recording. I do most of my practicing at night but can play at fairly reasonable volumes without disturbing anyone. In that lower volume setting I’ve always found bigger cabs/more speakers create a more pleasing sound than the same volumes with less speakers. And I do get fairly consistent opportunities to wind them up and really enjoy them so for me they make sense.

I’ve gone over the bass again and it is actually flawless. I’m really pleased with it and the P goes so well with the SVT.

I also grabbed an Empress Bass Para EQ, which I’m still getting used to, but so far is really cool!

I have an OE Super Vintage on the way as well.

The chain currently is a Cali 76 stacked > Empress > SVT. I’ll put the OE SV in the middle and I should be set. Although the DCX is looking pretty tempting as well.

Somebody please stop me! Just when I thought I was done buying gear on the six string side, now I’m hooked on bass!

You won’t stop. Ok, I have two vintage Vibro Champ amps, an ‘all original’ ‘64 and a ‘68. Those are my bedroom amps. The ‘64 had a 2 prong plug, some leaky caps, and the ‘death cap’. I put on a 3 prong, replaced with a kit the old power supply caps, and removed the death cap. The ‘68 had that done already, and has a modern speaker. Fender designed and marketed that model to be a ‘student’ amp - crappy power supply and single-ended (1 power tube). So, it hums louder than all my other vintage Fender amps, including my DR. I can modify the power supply, but I just live with it and grin from the great sound.
I use my empress bass para Eq to beef up the E string on my Ampeg Baby Bass. It’s a very well made Eq.

I don’t discount the opinion of those who received less than optimal quality of their new Fender instrument however I, like others who have posted on this thread, have received excellent quality instruments. I purchased my P5 last year and it is excellent! So good that this year I added an American Professional II Jazz bass. Both were ordered on line and I’m very happy with both of them.

Yours look great! Yeah I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another based on my experience. If I got a dud I’d just exchange it.
