Well my friend had one of the Ampmaster (Musicmaster copies) and I really liked it.
So I bought a fretless one (new) of Reverb from the company that makes them. Well it arrived and I had one major issue with the bass. Overall the bass was nice, but it felt different than my friends, I did not feel the same quality. But it just could be me after looking the bass over.
So here is the issue. It had 2 holes drilled in the back of the neck that were then filled with wood filler and not a great job at that. I contacted by phone the company and told them it was not a new bass and they said it was. Their explanation was that it was a special order and that person wanted something mounted to the back of the bass and then they did not take the bass. So they filled the holes and listed on Reverb. I told him that it was not mentioned on the post on reverb that there were these 2 hole and I wanted a refund or some funds back to make me feel better. He again told it was new and it did not matter anyway - the holes were on the back and you could not see them when playing anyway. He then offered me 25 dollars for me to keep the bass.
I told him I wanted a refund and I would send the bass back. Reverb were great and me helped thru the whole process. I shipped the bass back and got my refund.
So if you want a Ampmaster bass go thru Reverb - they are great.
Here area 2 pics of the bass and the holes.
