This is the first new Stingray I've ever bought.

I was actually purusing Reverb for used Stingray Five and I found some gorgeous ones, no doubt. But they were all listing for what this new one was listed for. So I thought, why not?

And I wasn't disappointed!

The weight is very nice! So is the hardware and it does have that Stingray tone, if a little refined. No problem. It'll be a couple of weeks before I have a gig I can play it. I"ll get to record it later this week.

As usual, I have nowhere to take a good pic in this house and our granddaughter, my usual model for NBD, is on a summer cheer camp. So here it is.
Maybe she'll take one later....

I love it! IMO, there is nothing better than a Single H SR5.

I learned one thing about the pickup today. It's quite sensitive to its proximity to the strings.

It was sitting what I would consider pretty low when I pulled it out of the box. After changing the strings and setting it up, I raised the pickup a little bit. Cool, some of the zing that I remember about the earlier models seemed to hav come back. Well, hey, if a little was good, maybe a little more?....:D

Oh, yes! Now it has the zing, but with some fullness to the tone. This is pretty close to the old Stingray tone I know and love (to me, anyway).

And it's like a brand new anything....Very stiff! It needs some miles and hours on it!

Challenge accepted!

(not forgoing my Lulls at all. I love the variety!)

This is one time I’m glad to be able to say ……I TOLD YOU SO!!!!

That is a beauty!! Congratulations .
Now you see why I don’t want to play anything else .
Absolutely, Lady! Thanx.

Other than being typical Music Man fit and finish, that pickup distance thing really surprised me.

I've played with pickup height before hunting and pecking around for subtle tone changes (Closer, brighter/farther less bright and full, sorta), but I can't remember hearing fairly distinct differences.

And I'm seriously loving this 8-something pound weight!

Really anxious to play it on a gig.
