Some (e.g. The monkeys) went from boy band to something more.
Not to go too far off topic but....huh? IIRC the only albums they wrote and recorded themselves were very poorly received. YMMV I guess, but that seems like an odd statement.

They went from being a fabricated singing band to musicians who could actually write and play their instruments. There was a lot of controversy at the time with people not believing that they were able to play. Being poorly received doesn't change that they were something more than a boy band by the end.
They weren't fabricated! All but one was related! Then the other was a pal. Hardly fabricated. They went from being a fabricated singing band to musicians who could actually write and play their instruments. He was referring to the Monkees, I think. They weren't fabricated! All but one was related! Then the other was a pal. Hardly fabricated.
It seems some posters here think Mr Wilson's assistant may sign fir him and include the Parkinson's related squiggles.
Just let that sit for a moment: Parkinson's related instability included.
Yeah, sounds beyond the scope of reality and all that is good in the world, doesn't it?
As one of you mentioned, like Beach Boys or not, Brian was a genius up there with Les Paul, Martin and The Beatles, etc. Pet sounds should be given a listen to by every musician at least once.
Find out the charity and then contact mr Wilson's handlers for verification. If it's good, and provable, sell it to someone that values it for $300 and get one that doesn't have a sig.
I am done with this thread. I think I should post a video of me removing the signature.

I'd vote for a wipeoff. Without a COA, signed stuff is worth no more than the instrument itself.
That said, for $101, that bass is a score.
You're kidding right? Do your grandchildren a favor and keep it as it is. If it's real, it'll take time to appreciate. There's no instant gratification with things like that. Is it going to be worth a fortune? No, but it's cool as heck.
