NBD: Buttercream goodness

I also love this color. I considered snagging a Jazz with this combination to go with my MIJ E-Series Precision ('84-'87). Back then they were called Vintage White. (Think Yngwie Malmsteen'sInvalid Link RemovedSignature Strat). I love that Precision so much! It's my favorite.
I tried a tort guard for a short time, but IMO, the white pickguard is the absolute best for that color with a maple board. Here are pics of Yngwie's Strat and my P-Bass.

Nice Precision. I have a Strat in that color but with rosewood fretboard and tort pickguard, came with white pickguard. You are right, a tort pickguard is looking better with rosewood, white or black or pearl with maple.

I don't know if Fender called it "Buttercream" back then, I've always called it "cream colored". I have heard that the official color name was "Olympic White", but that just doesn't sound right to me.

If I could... and I can't because I'm broke... but if I could, I'd get the custom shop to make me a Buttercream Jazz Bass with 70's pickup spacing and I'd want the neck to have a rosewood fingerboard with binding and pearl block inlays. TV logo as well.

I've been thinkiong of going tort and this has persuaded me! Where did you get that pickguard, as it looks great.
I bought my '76 P a long time ago and have gone thru several pg's. Ultimately I settled on this one. It's a standard Fender and I think it works best.
I always forget about my Buttercream Player P, then I gig with it and get compliments and love the experience. It’s honestly my best bass and I always forget that.
It looks really good with mint. That's what I did with my buttercream Player P.
Aside from the cosmetic changes, this one is also modded with Lollars, a custom harness with 12 way Varitone switch from KellingSound, and has a set of Hipshot UL’s sitting here waiting to go on.
Since it's a Jazz I'd run it naked as in no pickguard. IMHO YMMV
