NBD Capri Orange content

2022 Fender Player Series Capri Orange Alder body. Mint green PG. Fender high mass bridge made by Kkuson and IMO better than a BadAss II or an Omega. With the mint green PG this bass just screams Fender Surf bass. I was hesitant to order an orange body but the color is really nice. The more I see it the more I like it.

USA vintage cloth wiring, CTS pots and a RUSSIAN PIO .047 tone cap. For the pickup I went with the new Fender Yosemite series pickup and then grounded the pole pieces myself. Pretty easy to do and quiets them right down. I tend to rest my thumb right on the top edge of the pickup play over the pole pieces and with the pole pieces grounded, I don't have to worry if my fingers touch the pole pieces. No buzz. Dunlop Straploks installed.

Neck is a Fender licensed Mighty Mite w/rosewood board. Lots of flame on the back of the neck. My longtime friend Roy Harper in Yuma did the finishing. He shaved the neck, applied vintage Amber tint, rolled the fingerboard edges, installed a decal and shot it with nitro lacquer. Then he rounded the fret ends. Absolutely gorgeous in person and the color is perfect with the Capri Orange body. I did a full level, crown, and polish on the frets. For tuning keys I went with the set of GOTOH vintage Res-O-Lite reverse tuners. It's turned out to be a very nice bass all the way around. Weight 8.9 lbs.

Love that color! Looks great! I can't tell you how many times I hovered on the "buy" option for the Capri Orange Mustang but never followed through. :bored: After all, I didn't NEED it. :roflmao:

Surprisingly Russia is the world's major supplier of tubes and many other components. However with the Ukraine invasion those sources may dry up.

Mine is the brass model. It weighs more than the BA and KA. Plus I've never had to use shims with the Fender high mass bridge. The spacing is always correct on any Fender bass and it has lots of length for the intonation adjustments. Plus KLUSON always makes good quality stuff. The Fender bridge is a simple design that just plain works well. As to wether it improves the tone? That's a discussion that never ends. LOL

People badmouthed that switch a lot, but I found it functional on a Jazz (giving it even more of a P-Bass vibe than just favoring the neck pickup). I DO think it was pretty much worthless on a Precision, but not bad on a Jazz. Our sax player at the time loved that bass. Every so often before a song, he'd say, "Hit your switch for this one!!" :D

But yeah, that's one of my few "sellers' remorse" basses. I recently tried to contact the guy I sold it to to ask him to give me the right of first refusal if he ever decided to sell it. But he appears to have dropped off the map. (I sold it to him about 14 years ago, so he might or might not still even have it.) Enjoy that baby!

Mine is also an 04. I love the S circuit! Really wish there was an easy way to make my other jazz basses like it!

I actually just recently weighed the Fender stock Players series, GOTOH 201B, KA, Omega BAII, and the new Fender high mass brass model. I was very surprised to see that the fender bridge weighed more than that hip shot kick ass bridge. The kick ass bridge looks way beefier and feels beefier but actually weighs less, not by much but it does.
