I don't know. I thought I liked this bass, but now I'm not so sure. I mean, if they get you talking to yourself......and starting a club with yourself.....that's when I start to worry.

That bass was one of the few good things to come out of 1974. Watergate, fuel rationing, Sonny and Cher broke up, People magazine hit the newsstands....

That'd be cool! It's not every day we get to hear a rare bird like the one you've got. Especially one owned by somebody who can actually play.

Why is it that YouTube is loaded with so many videos of people who own really cool basses that begin with the dreaded opening: "Before I begin, I have to confess that I'm really not a bass player. And I don't own an actual bass amp to demo this with. But anyway…here goes."

Well its uploading. It's my first ever demo. And it's awful! The lighting is all wrong but the sound is good and that's what really counts. Should be up in about 20 minutes... YouTube takes forever.

To be perfectly honest, my expectations of this were very, very low. I honestly thought this Ibanez would be the usual fare of pointy headstocks and too many strings.

Lo and behold I was gloriously wrong, and so happy to be. Such a beautiful bass. Love it.

Cool.. what models? I have 2x RS 924s. One of which I actually lucked out and found a fretless version of the same neck from a RS940. So I may have the worlds only fretless 924. Its an unlined maple version of the 924 neck. It's my favorite fretless I've had. I doubt I'll ever get rid of it.

Many of you have seen pics of it, asked questions about it and now I own it. 1974 Ibanez Artist Bass model 2615B. It's so freaking cool! Ya, I know it looks heavy, it weights 8.5 lbs so let's knock that of right away, lol. It sounds amazing. You'll hear it. Kinda like nothing I've heard and everything I've heard all in one. One things for sure, it's born for blues and classic rock!! Here's some pics and a video.

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but it kind of looks like a bass version of a Brian May's Red Special mixed with one of Les Paul's 70's Les Paul Personal/Recording/etc models.
