Nope. 8.5 lbs
Ewwwww.....
It's my understanding, and I could be wrong that there's were cobbled together from parts after the dust settled from that era. So it makes sense that they look the same. The pickups and the tailpiece on the Ibanez Artist look a lot like the ones on the Ibanez lawsuit Rickenbacker copy from the same era.
Artist:
Lawsuit copy.
Wow! 80? Holy cow! What are your top 10?I've got over 80 basses and that bass has been on my most wanted list for several years. They are extremely hard to come by.
Hmmmm. I was gonna ask about string suggestions actually. Thanks. I feel you on the 80's Ibbys. I have two 86 roadstars.Dude-I have crazy, mad, one might even say certifiable love for my MIJ 80's Ibbys So, as you can imagine, I am drooling on my phone. You now have what I like to call a 'rare bird'
You might want to try S.I.T.
Silencers. They're what I would
throw on that bad boy.
I have two 80's roadies also!that is an amazing bass... I have to '80 Roadsters... and those feel pretty old. That is one amazing bit of kit. Cool bits from different basses...
The electronics really look a lot like my Les Paul Triumph bass. So happy for you.... enjoy it.

Many of you have seen pics of it, asked questions about it and now I own it. 1974 Ibanez Artist Bass model 2615B. It's so freaking cool! Ya, I know it looks heavy, it weights 8.5 lbs so let's knock that of right away, lol. It sounds amazing. You'll hear it. Kinda like nothing I've heard and everything I've heard all in one. One things for sure, it's born for blues and classic rock!! Here's some pics and a video.
Wow!! I'm sitting here with a friend, we have this long standing joke/love affair about Godzilla. We're trying to think of a name for this bass. Godzilla never crossed our minds. We're both ashamed of ourselves. LOL. THANK YOU!!Major Matt was my fave childhood toy from the golden era. I love Japanese monster movies too. That bass is like the original Godzilla.
Ya, I think it should be mandatory on nbd posts. LolUsually I'm not a fan of how Gibson type basses sit in the mix, but that one is great. I love that you posted a play along video... I always want to know how basses sound in the mix as opposed to how they sound solo.
