Only problem is Devon only builds 4 and 5 string basses right now.
Dang.... I was jus at their site and they had no examples of 6 string....
I'll shoot them an email.
I know that 6 string is a different animal. It's not just adding another C or an F. Several well known luthiers told me that the balance / tension along with neck profile and stability is very different from a 5 and the build is quite different.
Anyway thanks once again for the information.
I think the problem is not so much that “the band were down” as that there was a Stone Age monolith on stage that was in danger of being crushed... by a dwarf. That tended to understate the enormity of the situation.
Both of those are beautiful. I love the jack socket arrangement. So elegant and clever. The perfect ergonomic solution

I had never heard of Devon before the NAMM 2019 thread, but have genuinely been dreaming about that white jazz bass ever since. I'll be looking for 5-string Jazz bass with a J/MM in the next year or two, and Devon is definitely on the short list (assuming his prices don't skyrocket between now and then.)

I had the chance to play this beauty today 2 times at our church and they recorded the service for out TV broadcast. The bass sounded and played as good as any bass I've ever played. Every note it punchy, clear and fat. Just perfect tone through the churches Genzler head and cabs.
The more I look at it the more impressed I am. It looks like an expensive piece of furniture.

It has the tightest time and punch I’ve ever heard in a bass in a full band mix. You couldn’t ask for a bass to play and sound any better.
Beautiful bass - that cocobolo top is stunning. Really like the fitted battery and electronic covers - top notch!
I’ve owned multiple Roscoe, Benavente, Warriors, USA MTD, Lakland, STR, Prestige Ibanez, Ristola, Custom Bacchus and many others and nothing compares to total package they offer. Best playing, and best sounding basses I’ve owned or okayed.
Cocobolo and Buckeye are my favorite tops for bass. Here is my buckeye Devon is building now.
I mean no malice, but are you his only customer or something? You seem to buy/sell a lot of his basses, people drool over them (quite rightly, it looks like he's a skilled luthier with some seriously nice looking basses), but not a lot of other people seem to actually own one.
