NBD Danelectro Red Hot Lornhorn

I bought a ‘59DC a few years ago and fell in love with it, but I couldn’t bring myself to switch out the tapes that were on for rounds. I’ve been back and forth about grabbing a Longhorn for that reason and finally pulled the trigger on one of the new Red Hot models. Excellent build quality, great tone with the rounds. I love these little Danos.

One of the few short-scale basses I'd actually spend my hard-earned money on.
The red one's my favorite, but I really like the green, too.
Probably a good idea to buy both.

I’ve never been much of a fan of red basses. I’m the same with cars. Just not my color. I could be tempted by the black version with red binding though. I almost bought one of those before I found a deal on the green.

The green looks great, and I love the f-hole. But I gotta ask - if the build quality is excellent, is it really a Dano?

How does Red Hot compare sound-wise with the volume/tone stack of the 59DC? I have a 90's silver sparkle DC that I use and I like the versatility of separate tone and volume for each pickup. Congrats on the cool bass!

That’s been my only criticism of it. I would prefer it had the stacked V/T for each pickup instead of the 3 way switch. That said, I can’t say I feel like I’m missing much as is. It has that classic Dano sound in spades.
