Well, the recent religious conversion to the House-of-Precision rekindled the 4-string flame, and after some churn and a few sales, I managed to talk a very nice TB'er out of his fretless Mouse. Apologies for the quick and dirty photos, but it's dark in the apt and I'm late for dinner. Will try to get some recordings up with it at gigs this weekend. So far very fun though the 30" scale on a fretless has its moments. I think an MB-2 fretless 4 is in my future but this experiment will be fun.

No, the Deep5 is not for sale. That's a pry-from-cold-dead-hands bass.

Wow! How does it play/sound?

Plays like butter. Probably 5.5lbs, short reach to the nut. The sound is huge with an upright vibe. I cranked the treble pot (located in the cavity on the back - there is an access hole through the cover) full on to get some spank to it as I think it has the original strings (many years old). Were I to put up a recording I doubt anyone would be able to tell it was a short scale, and some might assume it is an upright depending on my technique (or lack thereof).
