NBD Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro

If I'd stay off this stupid website I would have remained blissfully ignorant of this new model, but alas, I've been looking for a T-bird with bright hardware, and here we are. White one on the way from Sweetwater. I don't know why Gibson can't do a US version of this instead of doing stupid things like that gold anniversary model. At least this is a much more affordable experiment than a vintage Gibson or a new Mike Lull.
Think I may need to order one of these soon.
For the price with the nice looking/sounding pickups, claw tail piece, large tuners as well as the positive reviews here have sold me.

Mine showed up Today Looks way better than the pictures from Sweetwater. For some reason the heads of the screws for adjusting pickup height were semi stripped and sharp edges on top. Other than that it sounds amazing weight is 8 pounds and growls nice tone for days as they say and very good sustain. I ordered the res o lite tuners but I think I may get a second one and put them on that one.
My Epi case finally showed up today at the store, yeah!! Now I can take my TBVP out of the house. It's only been 2.5 months since I ordered the case.

I just got that same Epi case after trying (and failing) to find a decent gig bag that will fit. Does the tip of the headstock touch the fur? Trying to figure out if my VP is abnormally long - it just barely fits the case...

it's a tight fit but it does fit.
i ordered a gig bag that also fits. it's an even tighter fit but i did manage to get it in there:

Yup! You would have thought that they would have made the case 1" longer, but no that would make to much sense.

Does it fit with the extra bottom padding piece in?
With my Pro IV I had to remove it.

nope. it just barely fits even with it removed.
Thinking about picking up one of these cases for my newly purchase TVP, is the headstock tight against the top of the case or is there a decent enough of space between the wall of the case and the fur. I just wanna be sure its a good fit, otherwise I might opt for the rectangle case.
I picked up my VP and case a couple of days ago. The Epiphone part number for the case is 940-ETBCS. My initial finding was that it didn't fit. Upon further experimentation, I figured out that the bass has to go in headstock first, because the padding on the body end of the case compresses easier than at the headstock end (naturally, since there is little or no padding there).
I also have a Classic IV Pro with an Epiphone case. Although the part number was different at the time (ETBCS - sans the "940" prefix) it's the same case. If you look up the case at different vendors, you will sometimes see a pic of a rectangular case - the actual case is tapered at the headstock end. I guess they figured it was wasted space.
Note: There is a lip of folded fur at the top of the case opening that you can't get past if you go in body first. By putting it in headstock first, you can get under the lip.

It dawned on me after I had taken my VP out of it's case a few times that when I put it back into the case, I should try placing the headstock in first to see if that's a better fit. Haven't tried it yet but will the next time I have it out. Thx for the heads up.

All the basses here get changed upon arrival to light gauge(E=0.95). Pretty sure I'm still using cheapo Alice strings. Their older versions were consistent quality, cheap enough to buy by the boxload, and each string is wrapped in a plastic bag. Quit buying them when they either changed production(light was no longer as flexible or bright as the older ones) OR the USA market got overrun with counterfeits. The G string is "just" long enough.
I changed mine put on GHS Balanced Nickel and they sound awesome kind of opened it up a bit.
Is it just me or is the neck profile slightly asymmetrical on this bass? Thickness wise, on mine the treble side (G) feels a little shallower than the bass side (E). Kinda makes it feel more natural to play when it tilts away while wearing a strap.
Mine came in today. Nice and light at 8lb 5oz. Might get some res-o-lites eventually for a bit better balance. No rush though.
Have some D'addario Pro Steels for it. I have to put them on yet. The stock strings are pretty uneven sounding and only have one wrap around the tuner so they're cut a bit short.
Despite the crummy strings, she sounds nice. Big difference from my P with chromes.
