Nice. Our local Long & McQuade has the burst Caprice in stock, but I really wanted the Coral Red, so that's what I ordered. I suppose it's a less popular colour. I was always wondering what a good music store for Bass in Seattle was. Now I know.

Nice. Our local Long & McQuade has the burst Caprice in stock, but I really wanted the Coral Red, so that's what I ordered. I suppose it's a less popular colour. I was always wondering what a good music store for Bass in Seattle was. Now I know.

Just ordered a custom pickguard from Pickguard Planet. They have the template for the Caprice and Cutlass (in addition to nearly every other bass or guitar imaginable, lol). I ordered one in their "Color 117" (aged Vintage White Pearl). It will take a few weeks. I can't wait to see how it looks on the bass.

My Caprice bass showed up yesterday. It's just as fabulous as the one I rented, but in the colour I wanted.

Inara, I also ordered a Vintage White Pearl pickguard from Pickguard Planet, along with a Black Pearl one. I couldn't decide which would be better, so I'll try both and re-sell the one I don't keep. My pickguards shipped yesterday, even though they told me 2.5 weeks.

I know. I'm so jonesing for that bass, but it would be expensive to travel to Seatle just to try it.

Congrats on the super sharp bass! And cool that the pickguards shipped so fast!!! I bet both will look great with the red. If I had to guess, I think the black pearl will look better (for my own tastes). Can't wait to see pics of them when you get them!

The LB-100 is actually a very fine vsss as well. For the most part G & L and Music Man basses are not to my personal taste (even though I admire their attention to quality and this comes from owning several versions over the years of various models of both companies). The MM Caprice and Cutlass and this particular model of the G&L LB-100 caught my attention I eventually settled on the Caprice because of sound, weight ergonomics. However the G&L was right behind it. So if you can get that used one because you line the color etc. go for it. The one thing I hesitate on these days is not to buy any bass (or instrument for that matter) that I can't get into my hands first as we all know every instrument is unique and even if same make, model year etc. there are differences subtle as they may be they do have that connection to you. I also realize with the grace period extended by companies and some individuals you do have that option to return. If no option and I can't get it in my hands first = beware and better to hold off. You want to feel good about your new 'friend'.

Agreed, hence my hesitation to just snatch it up. If I can find another good reason for a Seattle trip, then I could justify the cost of the travel to try it and perhaps purchase.
