The Acoustic I had was not from the Guitar Center brand. Same name, different company. It's also immaterial because ACC is gone and I have no vested interest in their brand

I was simply poking some fun at the idea that he went from being entirely dismissive of it because it's a bad copy to being very concerned about it from an IP perspective

I can see why he would be concerned. If these cheap knockoffs continue, it will inevitably effect the general opinion of his instruments. Basically this crap makes the real thing look bad. And not in the "I just bought a Fodera for $400!" way, but in the "I can't believe Fodera puts out this junk" way. Because most people won't see them as the garbage fakes they really are. They will unfortunately associate the Fodera name with this crap. (No offense on you, OP. I know why you bought it.)

I might casually remind everyone that there will be no lawsuits- Fodera has absolutely no intellectual property rights in China, and they do not have the cash to pursue the kind of lawsuit it would take (only massive corporations do- say, Apple, who are battling this currently).

It is crappy that this occurs, but there really is nothing that can be done about it, beyond, ironically, not buying them.

Luckily, it is so awful looking that nobody in the market for a Fodera will be misdirected, so it can't be claimed it is hurting Fodera, especially since nobody will really mistake them as identical, either!

Exactly. I can see these taking away some business from SX, Squier, and maybe Wishbass. Fodera, Elrick, Ritter, Warwick, and Alembic? Hells no.

I got this from DHgate.

So far, it seems on par with a CV Squier in terms of quality. Except the dead electronics.

I don't think too many people will mistake the problems with a real Fodera.

Wait, be fair for a second- that bass looks better than a lot of instruments that are posted here. Your response that it looks terrible is largely due to your feelings about it being a Fodera copy, but that does not look "terrible", objectively, right? It seems that is largely based on circumstance.

I don't know if the pickups are slanted, but it is probably just the perspective.
