I can't say it offends *me* - it looks exactly like what it is...a cheap Chinese knock-off. It's probably interesting to the OP, and I hope he has fun with it (that's why HE bought it). Those getting upset take themselves and/or their instruments waaay to seriously, IMO.

how is this any worst than what Sadowsky and others do to the Fender brand?!!:confused: seriously,... there are more differences with this "knock-off" than say any P or J bass clone. when i see bands on TV it's difficult to ID the instruments without a close-up!:eek:
i can tell that's no Fodera and i've never seen one in person, sooooo....????
what's really the problem? did anyone pay Fender for their IP without being sued?

also,.. why would Fodera even spend 5min scrutinizing this crap? they have much bigger fish to fry. in other words,... time is money. i think the OP should ceremoniously take the copy out of the market for good. maybe donate it to some poor kid or distressed music class. passing it around for no good reason is a waste of time.

nothing is sacred anymore... play it and have fun!:bassist:

Nope. It looks terrible. Look at where the neck joins the body on the treble side. I guess we all need the cutaway to be 2-3" past the last fret.

I could care less that it is a Fodera. Nobody that comes to my gigs even knows what a real Fodera looks like (or has even heard of a Fodera). Not a personal thing for me. I play the best for me, not to impress anyone.

Oh I get that it isn't perfect or thoughtfully built, but I'd bet my car that in different context, nobody would post that it looks terrible or bad. There has been a lot worse posted on here to a lot more praise (though I agree the headstock is nasty crap).

Your second paragraph has nothing to do with what I said though. I wasn't commented on anything about owning a Fodera or impressing people!

You mentioned that my saying it looked terrible was "largely due to my feelings of it being a Fodera copy". I stated that it being a Fodera had nothing to do with it and that I play Fodera for me, not to impress anyone. If there are Fodera fakes everywhere and other bassists think mine is a fake, cool with me. Less chance of anyone stealing it.:bassist:

Again, you playing Fodera for you or not trying to impress anyone has nothing to do with what I meant- I have two Foderas too and I'm not judging that. I'm saying that I think we are apt to think this thing looks worse than it actually does because we have an emotional connection to a brand we really like, value and support. It's nuts that this thing is being made, but it is hardly a wishbass!

Either way I just hope this thread doesn't lead people to buying these things to try them out, even if it doesn't actually take any business away from Fodera.

Good point. Makes me wonder why I wasted 5 minutes even looking at this crap.

Maybe because it IS a cheap, cheesy bass. Once again, we have to get used to the idea of grading on a curve. In terms of quality, I would place this with an MIM or MIC Fender/Squier which is fine because that is what it costs.
