NBD Fender 54 Paranormal Jazz

Congratulations on your '54 paranormal Jazz.

I never knew that these existed.

Not to detract from your NBD......................about 6 or so years ago, I put this "parts bass" together which is very similar to yours.

(Warmoth body, Allparts neck, Fralin dual coil neck pickup and a Fender Super 55 dual coil bridge pickup, concentric knobs just like yours.)

Nice!

So as I just posted, I like my Paranormal just the way it is, so probably won't do this, but....

Pickups: Nordstrand actually makes a J-size SCPB pickup: 51J4S Supposedly, the single poles in the 50's style SCPB pickup does sound quite a bit different from the double pole piece pickups. I would love to try these for getting a good 50s sound, but probably won't because I like the bass just as it is. But still am curious. Amazingly, I can't find anything online about these, other than what Nordstrand has on its website. I wonder if they have ever sold any?

It’s a Squier. Don’t give the Fender part of the group credit for the much more interesting stuff coming out of Squier.

most importantly nice bass. If I had the space I’d get one in an instant.

edit: I am thinking of adding a 40th anniversary p soon.
Agree. People only call them Fenders when they’re for sale on FB or CL.

Pro Star Audio is selling these for 200 bucks right now. Yipee! Can't say I needed one, but couldn't say I didn't either ;)

Seriously, if I were considering getting a Jazz... this would be definitely a contender. I love the look and I haven't tried a modern Squier that disappointed. And now you say... $200???

Glad I'm not near, I would find that very hard to resist. Especially the black one...

Aye Sir! I've had 2 Seat, a Volkswagen and now a Audi Q3 :D

My first car was a Fiat. After that it's been VW and Audis. I didn't think I had any special affiliation but... you made me realise maybe I do, especially as I'm starting to think of selling my A4 and getting a Skoda Octavia VRS [1]

[1] the biggest boot I've seen in cars of this size, and it's a fun car to drive too!

Ya, but, how big is the trunk ?

It's a car, not an elephant!
Or a foot... :eyebrow:

This is all the 4 string I need.
I put a Badass on it and played every jazz bass anthem that I know with a smile on my face.
I surprisingly has a great P bass tone.
The pick guard is metal with a serious edge that I’ll to get rounded off
