NBD Fender 54 Paranormal Jazz

I have to admit that this model design really appealed to me. Something about the look and configuration, although not typical, just fit.....in my opinion. I did play one briefly at a local shop and was impressed as well. Congrats on the new bass!

The proper German acronym for Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft. I think most think it is Volkswagen Auto/Audi Group
EDIT: In Germany you will see AG for publicly traded companies and Gmbh which I think is like LLC. For car buffs -- any car that needs the VAGCON software for tuning and adaptation. The software is made by Ross Tech. I have one and I use it to enable rain sensing wipers when my car did not come with one and also when I replace my timing belt. Most scanners do not work with VAG cars or at least they will get cryptic error codes

squiers are, IMO, carrying the legacy that leo intended. yours looks great! the specs are inviting, too (that neck/fb!). congratulations on your new instrument!

Not to detract from your NBD......................about 6 or so years ago, I put this "parts bass" together which is very similar to yours.
(Warmoth body, Allparts neck, Fralin dual coil neck pickup and a Fender Super 55 dual coil bridge pickup, concentric knobs just like yours.)

I really dig the mashup concept behind the paranormal series. I'm currently finishing a build that is a cross brand mashup. Its a Fenderbird with a 51' style Precision neck and control plate, Concentric pots v/t v/t ala 62 Jazz, with Tbird humbuckers.Surfin'bird Fenderbird Build-Now With Poll.
Next I'm going to build another fenderbird but without the "step" in the body and with a 70's style Jazz neck with the block inlays and binding, Jazz bass control plate, and I'm going to see how i like the pickup/wiring combo on the first one and possible switch up to vvt and Jazz pickups. Sick bass I really dig it.

Indeed, I'm aware of that (I'm from Spain). But it is a SEAT, not a Porsche. It would be silly to call it a Porsche (my friend didn't).
Same like calling a Squier "Fender", IMO. It's already confusing enough sometimes with so much overlap between different brands. Not a huge deal, but... anyway, my point was made and I don't want to detract from a NBD thread on what looks like a great bass!

Nice...and priced right too! I could go for one of those if I wasn't sorting out my amp stock.
I can play any number of higher-end basses I choose from my stable, but when I tried this one by chance, it became my absolute hands-down main gigger, and I’ve already driven it through thirty or forty shows in the past three months or so. And all with my “Fenderish” duct-tape headstock label proudly displayed. It just fits me like none other, and for only $300. Wow
...this bass looks like it shreds!...literally.

I just can not get over how awesome this bass is. I wasn't in the market for a new bass, but when I saw it for ~$330 on the labor day sale, I figured how could I go wrong. This bass is flawless.
I have the same nitpicks about the audio taper pots, but they are no worse than other audio taper pots that come with most basses (I prefer linear taper for volume). The pickup volume is lower than my other basses, but I have a volume knob on my amp that takes care of that. So I don't consider any of these as flaws.
What I am totally in love with is the neck. I actually purchased the neck on the right to put on it to complete the 50's look. But the neck that came with it is just so awesome. It's a two piece maple (i.e. maple board over maple neck) which I think are more stable than one-piece maple necks. The edges are perfect, and I like the thick front to back dimension. The figuring on it is nice, too, although that is just visual. I still may swap out the neck, but I already picked up a nice body in the classifieds to put the Squire neck onto.
I've got a 73 Jazz, and have played other newer J basses, and I can't think of anything in this squire that tells me "if only it was like * in the Fender".
