NBD - Fender Aerodyne MIJ 2014

A bit of an impulse purchase. I saw it listed on a local used gear site on Friday then met with the guy on Sunday and bought it. This is my first ever jazz bass. The skinny neck and lightweight basswood body make it feel like a child's toy. This may be sacrilege, but I removed the roundwounds it came with and put on the 3-year-old flatwounds from my Tele bass. Looking forward to testing it out at band practice this week.

Right? Doesn't really make sense, does it? Just curious if it works or not. I don't like the scratchy boingy sound of roundwounds.

Great looking bass. I always wanted Fender US/Mex to make Aerodynes like the Japanese ones.

Nice bass! Ain't no toy, best Jazz out there IMO, and I like the looks with the pickguard, and that looks like it's in really good shape. Nice score.

ever tried GHS Pressurewounds ..? round wounds that are roller wound under enough pressure to make the outer wrap more of an oval shape .. !! smoother , less finger/fret noise ... rounds without the typical rounds type issues .. !? reasonable price ...

I'm such a sucker for matching headstocks I put black stickers on both my MIMs. And I like the curved body so much I'm building a 5er from scratch based on it!

Love the MIJ Aerodynes, which come in a lot of cool colors not offered stateside (thanks again, Fender, I never tire of red, white, black and burst ).
