I love the American Professional Precisions. And I particularly love the new neck shape. Very comfortable and fast as you say. My local Fender dealer has a burst finish one with a Rosewood neck. If I can scrounge the funds it is going to be mine. Love it!

I hear ya! My '76 Precision has had its original medium jumbo frets dressed twice. With the GHS Precision flats it is almost like a fretless if I play slippery but only with Precision. So I get that. I think the trend changed with slap and high chording along with two hand tapping. The tall narrow frets lend themselves to greater dexterity and precision.

My Jazz bass is Olympic White with tortoise shell, which I thought looked great, but I must admit, the mint does appear to work surprisingly nice. I wouldn't have guessed that!

The sound quality is world class and the tone is solid classic Fender (let there be no doubt) Precision. It's important to me that my Fender sounds like a Fender. Fender engineer and pickup designer Michael Bump (@Bluzman99) has outdone himself with the new V Mod Precision pickups.

I've played a whole slew of pickups in my 47 bass playing years. I don't recall any that have sounded better. Different, yes. Better? No. The VMods are AlNiCo V magnets for pole pieces in the treble half and AlNiCo IIs in bass half. Ahhhhhh ... sonic bliss. I tweaked the pickups a bit lower (like 1/32nd") from factory setup. That sweetened the tone up and then a bit of further tweaking & angling to even out the string-to-string volume 'till all is copasetic. The AlNiCo IIs of the bass half are very throaty and growly. As I have already stated elsewhere, when you chomp down on a low F you can hear Heaven rejoice!

The AlNiCo V treble half is strong; articulate, and well defined. If you pop a high G or A, it leaps out and bites you on your ears. Hello! Still, when played with dexterity and dynamics you will hear all the subtle smoothness you desire. Very responsive to the bass players emotional input.

Don't be surprised if one night someone in the audience taps his friend of the shoulder and yells, "Hear that?! That's a damn Fender Precision!"

Cv50p come with vintage fret, I call the Am pro fret is “Tall vintage fret ”. Great feel and easy to play.

Right now until the Pau Ferro fretboards come into production Fender is showing only white maple necks (frets in the neck no fretboard).

I never really liked tort. It looks good on sun burst. I don't really like sunburst that much either

Neck profile sounds similar to how I think my 2000 P bass is, 1 5/8" and less chunky than my 98 jazz.

I was one of them..... lowered pickups and now my bass sounds like best P I've ever had.

I much prefer small vintage frets over medium jumbo. I hit notes just as well and can move up and down the neck better.

Your enthusiasm towards this bass is interesting after reading the other recent post about vintage instruments. The new basses are good. Why spend big money on an old bass when the new ones deliver so much. How much is vintage mojo worth?

and these people are: the ones that have never actually played them; Fender haters, and the EQ challenged folks that wouldn't know midrange if it bit them on the butt. The fact is that all Fender Precisions have always been midrange heavy. The usual complaint about Precisions is that they have too many mids! So whenever you hear anyone say they have no mids, just dismiss them as one of the above because you know better.
