NBD!!! Fender American Special Precision

I'd never owned or played a Fender bass before today. I was at the local music shop and saw this P Bass hanging from the wall and thought "why not?" So I sat down, plugged it in and was instantly blown away by how well built it was, how great it was to play and the instant grunt from the pickup. As I am turning 40 next month my fiance said "Buy it for yourself as an early birthday present." How could I ignore that logic? The fit and finish is superb, good weight and super slick neck. BTW what looks like a miss-fitting pickguard is actually the flash from my camera.

About 2 years ago when my new amp arrived, I used that exact same model to test my amp in the store before bringing it home. It sounded sooooooo good! I've since bought an Amer. Standard, but that one still calls out to me!

I have the FSR satin honeyburst one with the maple FB.

A unique feature of the American Specials is that the neck is thinner front to back than any of the other Ps. I think it is the best Precision neck Fender has ever done (for my hands anyway).

Thanks man, I was considering swapping the black pg out for a tortoise shell one but it's really grown on me.

Looks great. I love the white bodies with black pickguards as well. I say leave it be! Congrats on that hot action bass.
