NBD: Fender Classic '70s Jazz

Nice find mang. My biggest gripe with MIM Fenders are the unfinished necks and headstocks that make the bass look like a cheap tarted up whore. Looks like they went the extra mile on these. Very,..MIJ/CIJ.
It's the best bass I've ever played. I got mine when they were cheaper, mine was 650.

The Classic line is an excellent bang for the buckeven more so
when you buy used. I like them because they've got nice styling
and sound, and since they don't break the bank (and likely won't
go up in value later), you can mod them as much as you like
with no worries.
I'm shopping right now for an Oly White Classic 60s Jazz to create
a fretless project. They're a great foundation to start from.
Yeah, I modded mine within a week! Mine has the output jack on the bottom, a passive mid cut, a rick capacitor switch, a series switch, and a badass II. I am a mod nut, but this is the first bass that I loved even before mods!
this could fool people. seriously. nothing cheap feeling about it. I am so, so, so happy with this bass.
I've owned over 150 fender basses(currently 23). The 70s Classic Jazz is the only new Fender I've ever purchased. This bass has been doing all my club work for the last 16 mos. After playing this bass for about 4 mos I sold my DJ4 and haven't missed it a bit. These are great basses.

I read in a recent TB thread that the Classic series necks and bodies are US built, then shipped down to MX for final finish and assembly. Also read somewhere on here that the hardware is same as on the US AV basses. Does anybody know if any of this is really true?
When I look at my Classic 60s Jazz, it seems possible. It's fit and finish is beautiful. ( and that neck! . . . like butter, it is. )

I just got one too for a really good price new. I won't say how much, but GC is trying to move them out, so if your local GC still has one, now is a good time to go get it. Here it is with my #1 A-list baby. I had a hard time setting it up from the terrible factory set up, but now that it is tweaked, it is settling in nicely. Nice thick tone. I just wish it didn't have that CNC hole.
...I started playing bass in 1974 on my second hand, original '72 jazz; so you can easily figure that I just have a... heartbeat-stop every time I see a rw/blocks board!!! Excellent idea to offer the bass in a MIM version, that it does not cost one... an arm and a leg! Yet I can't figure out WHY-IN-THE-WORLD they didn't yet reissue also this one in the MIM version as well:

I was so stoked to try one of these at GC last night, and the strings were resting directly against the fretboard, making it impossible to play. haha. stupid GC.
