Despite the fact that I didn't really NEED another bass, MF got me where it hurts (the wallet) with a STOTD earlier this week at $400.00 off the street price. My power to resist such a deal is apparently non-existent! Actually my other Precision is a hot-rodded Squier VM P (amber), so this would appear to be a step up. It's got the 70s headstock logo, vintage frets, 1.65 nut, standard PU, vintage Fender logo tuners, DDR neck plate, DDR special booklet, sticker and poster and came with the deluxe Fender gigbag.
Pretty good deal, if I say so myself!
It plays nice, the neck feels great, and it's got that great P "thump". I don't really feel the need to do much to this outside of stringing it with the obligatory flats. These MIMs are really made nice these days. I can't see myself GASsing hard for an MIA P now, unless a natural ash model falls from the skies at a price I can afford.
Now, if only I could find one of those natural ash FSR Jazz MIMs at a decent price, I think my list would be caught up. I have a set of Fender 55 pickups that are just waiting to get installed into it, along with a jazz control plate that is already updated with CTS pots and a variometer in place of the tone control.
Oh, if anyone is curious as to what is in the 39-page Commemorative DDR booklet, I took pictures of the whole thing and posted it HERE:

Or, you can try the slide show link: (I can't seem to make it start at the beginning...it runs in reverse!)

Sorry for the picture quality....definitely not the best!
