I think it would be awesome with a Spitfire tort guard. They are expensive, but your anodized guard would fetch some decent money to help offset the price difference.

the gold is good, but that tarnished texture looks out of place, but maybe with gold hardware.....
I just had a thought, after seeing the Lynott sig bass, how 'bout a mirror PG? w/white=super clean ( didya take a look at it with the black PG?,could be a win!

Thanks everyone for the ideas & suggestions, some really good ones! A Spitfire guard would be lovely, but prohibitively expensive being in the UK. Black is still an option, but having practiced with it today (in a room full of mirrors!), I think I'm happy enough with the gold for now.

For anyone wondering about the bass itself, it played great, the satin finish on the neck didn't get sticky even after hours on a very warm day, and it sounded like a great P bass. No complaints here
