Well done! I've never been an acolyte of "completely original," and in this case going completely original would just make yours like every other EB-2. Non-original knobs (although I don't really care for the ones on the bass now) make the bass YOURS!

Nah I'm also not big on keeping stuff original. All my basses (except for my Mustang and De Gier Soulmate) have been modified in some way. Different pickups, knobs, new frets, refins (both my vintage Fenders are refins)... As long as they improve the bass. The knobs that are on my Gibson now are fine, I might switch them out someday but for now it's absolutely fine.

Congratulations: that bass (better if in the EB2D version, 2 pickups) is my absolute, personal holy grail.

I really couldn't care less for a bridge pickup on a bass like this, to be honest. I want a (semi-)hollow to go FOMP. So this is absolutely perfect for me (even as a sunburst, which I normally hate).

Well I'm currently at...uhmmm...I actually had to count...thirteen and a double bass and I really can't imagine what I would want now. Except for a Fodera.

Yep, after 23 years of playing it's my first Gibson(-like) bass. Had three Epiphone guitars, but no Epi or Gibson bass so far.

Oh and I have another question. I was wondering if anyone knows about a gig bag that'll fit. I really don't like hard cases, sooooo which gig bag would fit?

Sunburst EB2 is on my "someday" list. That's what a neighbor/bassist/great inspiration played in the Chicago/BST cover band that practiced in his mom's basement right next door. They had horns and kicked butt, especially impressive for a bunch of HS kids. His little brother was the first one ever to tell me "you oughtta get a bass..."

There are Gibson gig bags that fit EB-2 basses (one of my past Starfire basses came with one, which I sold in favor of a hardshell case). That said, it will likely be much much easier to find the current Guild "acoustic bass" gig bag, though they seem to be out of stock at a lot of retailers currently. I use these for my Starfire basses and your EB2 will most certainly fit. They are great quality and even have a nice neck-rest/pad in there. It's not a super tight fit, but they could have told me it was designed for semi-hollow basses and I would have believed it. Great fit! Guild Deluxe Acoustic Gig Bag - Bass

For an EB-2 this early your color choices would have been natural, red, or sunburst, and red was not an option until 1964.

Nice! What scale is the bass? I have a '68 Custom Kraft 34" scale hollow-body bass and it's as long as my '64 Gibson Thunderbird. (50"/127cm) Needless to say there's not a gig-bag available that would ever fit it.

I thought my collection was complete. Well, I always had GAS for a vintage Gibson EB-2 but they were way out of my budget. And then I found one online here in NL, for a decent price. Non-original knobs and switch (pots are original), non-original truss rod cover and a non-original case. But boy is this bass amazing. So happy.

30.5" scale, so no gig bag worries for this bass. Regarding the Custom Kraft, there were rectangular hard cases for those. Slip a sawhorse under each end and you've got yourself a work bench.

look for a Es335 bag , not sure if it would fit as the bass may be longer , take measurements

Don’t know what gig bag but if you change your mind about a hard case the Epiphone Jack Casady bass case is a perfect fit.
