I thought my collection was complete. Well, I always had GAS for a vintage Gibson EB-2 but they were way out of my budget. And then I found one online here in NL, for a decent price. Non-original knobs and switch (pots are original), non-original truss rod cover and a non-original case. But boy is this bass amazing. So happy.

Don’t know what gig bag but if you change your mind about a hard case the Epiphone Jack Casady bass case is a perfect fit.

If you gig/transport your bass regularly - a hollow-body bass is only safe in a HSC. Well designed gig-bags are great for solid-body basses - but ultimately risky for hollow-bodies. YOMV

Congrats on the new-to-you bass! I’m a big believer that every bassist should own a semi-hollow or hollow-body bass at least once in their lives to decide if it’s for them or not, and it sounds like you’re loving the sound and vibe of your Gibson (I feel the same way about my Warwick Star Bass II).

Have you considered going to a custom maker for a gigbag? If that’s a possibility for you then you’d likely get to spec out things like padding and support, closure of the bag, strap locations…AND it would be guaranteed to fit this instrument perfectly.

Great looking bass. My first bass in the 1970s was a 1968 EB-3 with the same neck pickup as yours. Very thumpy! I saw an EB-2 in a local store recently and it was really easy to play. No longer my type of sound though. Enjoy!

Some TB'ers gripe about "vintage" and how they only want new instruments, which is fine, but examples like this of well cared for instruments that have long been out of production are one of the reasons I like shopping for vintage stuff. And even when reissues exist, they are often not the same as the originals.

I have a ‘67 sunburst EB2 in close to mint condition. It only does a certain sound, but what it does, very few other instruments can capture. ..unique and lovely!
