NBD finally got my unicorn

Epiphone "The Vinnie" Vince Hornsby signature bass. He is the bassist for sevendust, a band I loved in high school/college. EMG's are stock.

I replaced the pickup rings with creme, to me it just fits the les Paul aesthetic more with the binding. No fear, I still have the black rings if I wanna go OG.

It sounds and plays great.
Right, Couldn't figure it out! and I love Sevendust!

I know that rush of exhilaration when something special and long sought after lands in your lap. It's happened to me a few times over the years and there is little like it. (Cue the "warm-fuzzies"!! 🥰)

Well done and here's to hoping you'll never fall out of love with it!:hyper:
interestingly enough, I found one a few years back on ebay. it was shipped to me in a gig bag. the big brown truck folks gave it quite a fall at some point. There was an edge smashed, paint and binding crushed and cracked off. It was a hard enough drop that it rendered the electronics useless. Sadly, insurance covered it, but my search continued. Thankfully, this specimen is overall in better shape.

What a looker!!!! How would you describe the sound? I don’t recall ever hearing one being played.
Like a slightly more bass forward spector or a newer vintage/60's style t-bird, with the SS strings.

I had a standard epiphone les paul bass a few years back. a beauty. but tonally the pickups were significantly different. Very mid forward and darker. This one is active emg with passive vol/vol/tone/tone. It's quite versatile. neck solo'd is very p-bass territory. I'm not certain what style of HB the pickups are, but I like them.

That being said, I'm an EMG fan boy.

Just got back from a great vacation in Maine. Replacement truss rod cover was in the mailbox.

Also trying to figure out how I want to go with speed knobs.

I have this bass now in it's complete form. I have added a D extender, proper knobs with pointers, LHZ HAZ preamp, and I have filed down the saddle slots to get uniform string height with this radius. I don't hate the 3 point bridge, but the A and D were so high it was ridiculous.

I love this bass.

Cool bass. I’ve seen him perform with one many years ago. It was an extremely solid and heavy low very controlled as is on the recordings his recorded tones do not seem very distorted or clanky. More of a heavy purr. Along with the drummers solid bass kick drum and just the overall heaviness of their band. They’re recording sound really good and heavy. I’ve seen him use Peavey 8 x 10 cabs other than that, I never noticed what amps he was using. The only other time I recall hearing that bass in concert was a Duff McKagan with Guns N’ Roses early in their career in their heyday and I’m not sure if this was Gibson or Apple phone, but it sounded awesome. I believe his amplification was hartke at that time. The cabinets were anyways I saw Sevendust in November in Minneapolis. It was an acoustic tour. It was really great. The only bass I recall was a stingray at one point.

thanks! i haven't seen them since the early 00's. he was all Les Paul at that point. then switched to Dean, and I'm assuming he is just playing what he finds comfy now. They are a really great live band. So much hard rock/metal can be terrible live. They are clean and tight. I love to watch Morgan smash the drums as well.
