NBD: finally landed a P5!

That black shell guard looks good on yours. Have been debating between that and a smoked mirror guard on mine, but not sure how well they'll go with Olympic White.
better pic, blue pearl ignore the B string I was detuning and going with big gauges
185 ! did not have enough space to get it intonated correctly. I'll be putting a Kickass on it to overcome that issue :)

oh and the holes next to the bridge are from when i had ashtrays on it for a while: and block inlay stickers.
Before i swapped the guard for the blue pearl.

View attachment 3453057 Congrats! Welcome to the club (actually, I don't think there is a formal club, but you know what I mean).
This gets my first ever  that's dreamy. (And shows me that mirror pickguard with sunburst totally works.) Did that start as one of these Squiers?

Congratulations!
You deserve it!
My P5 has been my only bass for over a year now.
Let me be the devil on your shoulder to talk you INTO the mods...

Got this guy with the plan to leave stock.
1. Changed the pickguard to white from the stock mint green.
2. Added a stealth string retainer on the B string.
3. Changed the tuners to Hipshot Ultralites
4. Had it shielded (okay, maybe not a mod)
5. Added the Hipshot bridge. Got the idea from a thread with @Ampslut . Same bridge but mine's brass.

I'm so glad I did all of them. It's just the way I want it and it's MY bass now.

Also, I REALLY like your Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound idea. I love QPs, but the music I play won't let me get away with them.

Will do, but might be a while. PM me if you want to take this one for a spin. Somebody in Los Gatos has the US version on SF Bay craigslist right now (for $1k more).
Not needing a bass, just wanting to check out a local bass brother digging his new axe. :D

Bit off topic, but how do the Ultralites & the stealth string retainer work together? I've got a stealth retainer kicking around, but AFAIK the tuners need a washer & screw in post bushing set up, and I didn't think the Hipshots would work with it?

Any advice there would be appreciated, would probably push me over the edge into getting some ultralites!
