NBD - First P Bass

I sold a guitar this morning and picked this up! It is a 2021 Player P and came in a Gator Transit bag. The seller also threw in a Korg Pitch Black pedal tuner, the Dimarzio Clip-Lok strap (which I removed and put the stock strap buttons back on), and a long T shaped truss rod wrench from Fender.
I got it all for $500!

I just got it home, polished up the frets, and put on La Bella DTF Low Tension (43-104 I think). I also swapped the pickguard screws for black ones, as the stock were a little tarnished.

I may take this one all black if/when I decide to upgrade the tuners and bridge.
Or I may put on a nice dark tort pickguard and be done.

Congrats. That looks sweet. Black and maple is a wise choice. It’s yours so if you want to mod it that’s cool. But it looks great with black now. I have a black with tort and you can’t go wrong there either. Rock it.

I put a tort pickguard on my Fender Player Jazz bass. This will give you an idea of what a black bass, maple neck, and a tort pickguard will look like...which is next to my Fender Player P bass....also with a tort pickguard.

Consider black nylon tape wound strings. Picks out a maple fretboard great!! (See avatar…) Rotosound 88 have chime and girth. Weirdly awesome.
