I never had the Redsub but I think the G4M has the same electrics in as the Redsub. The G4M has 7 neck bolts compared to the Redsub's 5. Low End Lobster reviewed one and wasn't impressed with the 7 bolts shown on the G4M website (although they did get the 5 bolt version which may have been an earlier version) and they were happy with that one. To me I see no difference.
When I had the bass before I modded it, I can't say there was anything wrong with the stock pots. caps, preamp or pickups. I just wanted to move the neck pickup and saw the opportunity to go with a Glockenkland 3 band just as an experiment, I liked it, but that may had had something to do with the neck pickup being re-positioned as well. The pickups are decent and I've not bothered changing them but they are a standard ~ 40mm x 102mm size so there are absolutely hundreds out there to choose from.
My only real concern was the quality of the basswood body which was featherlight and had loose grain and some splits in it when it has it's finish taken off, maybe mine was just a bad example but with some filling and sanding it came up sort of OK for it's paint job.
As I've said many times though the neck is the real star whether you end up with the Redsub or the G4M.

Hi, thank you, received your mail before I went to check the bass. Reading it post after. In the end, I could get the bass for 280€. Its the original Redsub, tho with 7 bolt - interesting concept! New, under G4m, could be bought for 330. I kinda liked the bass, no sharp frets, decent action (I started like low+mid for no buzz if possible). Seems it has issue with pot caps being tightened to a body. It was quite ergonomical, I love the ping/broun finish. there were two no no to me tho... The neck itself. It was surely better than old BTBs, relatively slim, but not slim and NOT flat (D profile) as I would prefer like on my BTB805MS. Not bad at all, but also not ideal to me. Besides profile, the second thing I hated was the feel where thumb is, kinda sticky. Not sure if it would need some finer or opposite grain of abrassive paper. Maybe would need laquer, cuz seems the wood has nothing, or mayby some sealer only? No sure - this was maybe the biggest deal breaker to me. The tuners were abyssmal for sure, same as the old strings which could transform feel a bit as well, frets were green tho with low amount of use, no sharp frets. Bass could be about 4,5-5kg heavy, which i expected and was no problem. Bridge felt little cheap, but worked. Concept good for fast string change compared to stuff like Fender.
So, in the end, I skipped the deal. I liked the bass overall, but the feel of the neck made me to refuse the offer, Some afterwork could be done probably to make it better feel wise, tho. I will try to get 6s version of my Ibanez first for cheap "relatively" and will see. Even if it will be like 3x of the Sub/G4m. Here I did not felt the need to play it when I see it. With my Ibby, I go around and must play a bit. Maybe I ll pul the trigger later anyways and buy Redsub/G4m from the dude or new one.
Good thing is, it was compatible with Thunderbird soft padded case from Thomann, so gigbag would not be issue as well.
, I really love the neck on this guitar. What I found out when I took the burl off it was the wood underneath wasn't all that and quite soft and spongy in parts and a lot of people are put off with basswood (basewood as I call it
) but don't be one of the herd, basswood is a really nice tonewood, ask Fender who sold me their MIJ Midnight Black P bass for almost 10x the price I paid for this, and that is beautiful in it's own right.
