NBD- Geddy Lee with Texas Tea finish

This is a little bit misleading, because this is a bass I’ve had since 2002. It’s a made in Japan Geddy Lee Bass, and it was the first bass I bought with my own money back when 650 bucks was a fortune! I beat it up pretty bad in all the bands I was in, so it needed to be restored, but I’ve always loved this bass and they’re pretty well known to be great. It’s been taken apart for about eight years, some of that time where the pieces were in different states. It’s been re-painted in a beautiful Texas tea finish, and I forgot how great this thing sounds. I could probably use a new set of tuners, so if you guys can recommend a great set of lightweight tuners I’d appreciate it.

For lighter weight tuners, I’ve had great success with Hipshot Ultralites.
Hopefully Hipshot makes a direct replacement version for your GL Jazz.

I put the Gotoh GB528-N-L4 on mine
Not a direct fit with the screw holes but makes for a better bass.

Hipshot does not, unfortunately and surprisingly, make an Ultralite for the common Fender tuner back.

My Spector Euro is the first bass that I’ve owned that has Gotoh tuners. I like them a lot!

Just look up Gotoh dealers, bound to be enough around. Btw, they have even lighter tuners, too, in carbon fiber..."carbon-o-lite".

They are plastic.

That helps in making them really light.

Have

a set on my Schecter and are fantastic.

Yup, what @Clark Westfield said. I have them on my Schecter...work beautifully. Whether modern or clover keys, they operate smoothly.

I’m talking about the fender style ones! Getting y-tuners on a jazz bass is unforgivable! (But cool on y’all’s basses!)

Also, it looks like the Res-o-lites have a different screw footprint than the ones I have. Why the hell do they do that?!
