NBD! Happy Birthday To Me!

Browsing the local Craig's List last night I came across a great looking Schecter 004 bass! Schecter basses have never really been on my radar. I used to see them at GC all the time and liked the way they looked but never played any. I remember seeing the 004 model when they came out and really liking the way they looked! The guy I bought it from got it new from GC in 2008 with a hard case. The bass looks almost brand new. I can hardly find a mark on it anywhere. The plastic is still on the back control cover! This thing is super clean and plays very nice. Neck is nice and smooth with great fretwork. It's active with a two band EQ, master volume with push/pull active/passive switch and blend knob. The case looks like it never left the house! I paid less than half what it would have cost new! Feel like I got a good deal on a nice bass! Since it's my birthday I decided to stop at GC and treat myself to a new set of DR Black Beauties to go on it.

I remember they came out not long after I got my C4-XXX, I kind of wished I had waited just a little longer and got a 004 instead but I'm still happy.

Early Jan bdays are too often lost amongst the holidays. Know a couple of kids even worse off, born between x-mas and New Years.

Thanks for all the happy birthday wishes! Spent quite a bit of time with this bass yesterday and I'm really digging it! It's different than anything else I have owned. Most of my basses have been passive J basses. I was concerned that it might be a bit too modern sounding for my taste, but it's not. Just a nice full tone that can be easily varied with the EQ and pickup blend knob. What really surprises me is how good it sounds in passive mode!

I have one of those as well...it took about a day to decide that passive was/is the way to go for me.
