NBD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray!

Hi all,
I'd like to tell you a little story about my happy day.
I was feeling kinda down and out yesterday. stressed, tired, tried to play bass but my tone sounded dead and boring to me....you all know the feeling I'm sure, so I thought a visit to the music shop would cheer me up a bit.
I haven't been to the shop in a while and as I enter the bass section I notice that they have a whole bunch of pretty new basses. Hooray! :hyper:
My eyes immediately focus on an Olympic White Squier CV Jazz. This thing is beautiful! I haven't totally been sold on Squier in the past. I have an Affinity series that I'd bought and ripped the frets out of for the fun of it, but the fit and finish is terrible and I swear the thing didn't even sound like a jazz. I had to replace the PUPs, the hardware, and all the wiring to make the thing playable to me.
The CV Jazz, on the other hand, was perfect. Fit and finish 9/10. There were none of the problems I have come to expect from Squier. No poorely dressed, sharp frets, etc. The tuners are fairly nice, but the only reason the bass didn't get a 10/10. As I said, nice, but do feel slightly cheaper than what you would find on a MIA Fender. That being said...honestly, I own a couple MIA Fenders and the quality in look alone is almost identical.
The real test, as we all know is how it sounds.
I took the Jazz to the test room with the same model amp as I use on all my gigs. (Fender Bassman 250 1X15 combo, for those who care). I tuned up, plugged in and...BOOM! Holy s#&t this thing sounds like a 60's J-bass! :bassist: Tons of bass, as well as that Jazz bass punch that we all love. I played her for half and hour and only dragged myself away long enough to pay for it.
I played her on a gig yesterday as well as a jam session and a session at one of the studios I work with and everyone was shocked at how good this bass sounds/looks. The best part? This beauty only cost $349 CA.
I know the rules....no pic, no bass, so here you all go:

Whew that was a long post, thanks for sticking with me!:D

Yes... I a/b'ed a CV Jazz, RW Jazz and a CS Jazz last year... the CV came a close 2nd to the RW, the CS was miles away... I love the gloss neck.

I'd replace the machines with vintage ones and maybe remove the frets (just for me) although I like the small frets.

They are super!

Congrats! That is beautiful!

I can totally relate to your elation with Squier's quality for the price...

I purchased a Squier VM fretless earlier this week, and can't believe the happiness I'm already getting from my investment. One gig under my belt on fretless, and my bandmates and fans are already singing the little Squier's praises.

Tangent,
Liking it alot so far. I haven't noticed a huge tonal difference, but It sure feels solid!
At a guess, I would say that tuning stability is positively affected and one could argue better sustain/clarity, but honestly my ear is not that well tuned. I just love the overall tone and feel.
Again, absolutely shocked at how nice this instrument is. I have zero issues with gigging this bass. We're doing over 200 shows this year and I am going to put her through her paces. I will do a review in a couple of months and see how well she hold up to life on the road.

Enjoy it, Dark..
I'm a big believer in the added qualities a heavier bridge brings to my basses. There's a lot of players that feel it makes no diff. Thanks for your thoughts.
