I often think Fender should have a small office somewhere deep in the belly of the beast, whose only function is to very quietly study the various Japanese Fender-clones (Bacchus, Moon, Atelier, etc.), and straight up copy the coolest ones as next year's New Models.

That finish must be a thing over there, some of the SDGR Ibanez were sporting that look as well.
