NBD! Ibanez 1505ms EHB

How's the neck? Patiently waiting on the one I have ordered but will probably be a few months
This was another worry for me with the neck
My BTB has a wide and flat neck which I hate
I have larger hands so its not an issue but I like a small and round neck.
But it is honestly nice, not as wide still pretty flat but its a nice middle ground.
Feels great to me and I think the majority of people prefer necks like this anyways

I'm surprised anyone in Aus has got one already; yours was likely the one BC offered me, but I knocked it back as I need to spend money on other things right now. Enjoy.
Hahahahha wow, was worried I would miss out I think it was the last left in the blue
Would not have minded the Sea one but Blue pops more to be and is a bit different

I got one of these EHB's and loved it except for one thing that made me return it. The luminescent side dots didn't work and when not lit were very hard to see. For ergonomic reasons they put them slightly back toward the back of the neck which meant any front lighting was in shadow where the dots are. I'd charge and charge the luminescence but it would last about five minutes. They didn't hold a charge. Maybe I got duds.

The neck was gorgeous roasted maple but it provides no contrast to the unlit dots.

I wonder if anyone else had this problem. I'd buy another EHB if I could solve this problem. As it was I couldn't orient well to where the notes are.

After only ordering at 4pm yesterday (NSW time) currently 7:12 PM 21/04/20
My new Ibanez arrived,a couple hours ago.
I really wanted to try a headless and multi scale
And my god this bass is killer easily the lightest bass I own, lighter then my acoustic guitar!
I was worried with headless maybe playing around the 1st fret it wouldnt feel the same but nope feels exactly the same.
Another concern the the multi scale, but as much has been said how it feels the same I didnt believe it. And yet it does I feel no real difference for me.
Maybe since I only fiddle around on a practice amp for halfa.
Sounded killer can't wait to plug it into the rig.
With the angled picked I was wondering how my finger playing would be affect but it actually helps when I want to go into that striking Ryan Martine style!
Again havnt messed with the sounds to much just the blend control but it is to be expected, same as on my Ibanez BTB very much P bass on the neck solo bridge J on the bridge and amazing in the middle.
I can't wait to see how it fits into my arsenal!

Got to give props to the bass centre in Melbourne for the quick service

Wondering if you would mind posting an update now that you've has this bass a couple of months?

Well here we go.
After playing with it for a while and doing some live streamed gigs and recordings with it, got to say it has not let me down.
Mind you for this particular bass I am mainly playing metal and harder music but I did use it briefly for some blues and surfy rock.

Neck: I quite like it normally I'm not a fan of flatter necks but this one is right in the sweet spot for me.
Feels great and I love the natural Wenge.

Multiscale: This was my first multiscale instrument and I had no problem switching over
Feels completely natural, only problem I have run into is sometimes when playing very high up the neck 15th fret+ the different scale lengths can throw you off if you aren't looking at the board. Same goes with tapping takes some adjustments.

Looks: Purely subjective but I love the shape and finish, havn't noticed anything wrong with it so far.
I just love weirder styled basses

Headless: Tuning stability is great and only took a bit of time to get used to it.
Only problem I have faced, is that sometimes when locking in the strings and tuning it up.
Certain strings would come out even though it is locked in tightly.
Now this could be because of my own doing, I'm not to sure.
I had an E string come out a little bit halfway through a song at rehearsals and this would keep happening.
This could be due to something I messed up, bad string or just an old string.
After changing it it was fixed
There is also an issue when tuning up, the tuning peg would reach its limit and couldn't go any sharper.
Again once I tried out a different string it was fine.
So I am not sure if this is a problem with the bass, myself or there are certain types of strings it doesn't like.
I normally use stainless steel d'adarios, dunlop or DR

P/up: I've always loved Nordstrand and these pickups are great sounding.
Got plenty of attack and bite while still having that bottom end, soloing the neck gets you close to that P bass sound and bridge for Jaco.
Can't say anything bad about these guys, I do have the Big singles in my Ibanez BTB and I think the splits sound better for a mix and band because it just has that extra low end.

Electronics/controls:I never really fiddle around with them, just leave everything flat.
Only ever really backed down the treble. Pots and jack are fine no issues there.

Sound: Gonna be different for everyone but for me very close to that Jason Newsted Black album tone
Rex Brown Far beyond driven or Ryan Martine L.D.50
Depending on what i'm playing or how i'm playing
I'll link a video of me playing a set with it in one of my bands if that helps.

Feel free to ask anymore questions I probaly missed alot

Thanks for the review. Great clip and good playing too.

I'm been tossing up whether to get one of these since I first saw them online. I'm too far away to travel just to try a bass and already have a Soundgear I really love. What gets me is that Ibanez sometimes have pretty short model runs and I was only lucky to get my current bass which was the last one left.

I got mine sight unseen as well, due to Australia having very low numbers of bass stores and even less good ones.
I don't know exactly how many basses you have or what you need or are looking for.
But honestly I love this bass gonna be my number one for a while.
Over my 89 Warwick Streamer, Ibanez BTB1505e
Only time I'll be changing if I need that classic P with flats or my fretless.

I’m in the same position - no way I could get to try one. But would want to get something that has a good almost P and J tone as a foundation. I have a Soundgear SR755NTF which is a PJ but the preamp and Nordstrand pickups allows a great variety of tones. Love the idea of the light weight and the ergonomics would be a lot like my bass which is probably the most comfortable I’ve played so far.
