Nice!!!!About 10yrs ago, I purchased one of these ATK805e Premium basses. Kept it for not quite a year. For whatever reason at the time, I got the notion that I wanted an SR model more and used the ATK as trade-in on the SR model. In retrospect, it was a HUGE mistake to let it go. I was happy with my SR model(s) but occassionally I'd think of the ATK and remorse would creep in, thinking I should have kept it.
Even though I wasn't actively looking for another ATK all these years, it's just always been a sore spot of regret whenever I'd occassionally think about it. FF to a few days ago, I was checking out the GC used section and they shockingly had one (and only one in their entire inventory) used - for a fantastic price! These are getting very difficult to find - and the ones that do show up used are going for crazy high prices. So I purchased it sight unseen. Upon arrival, it was in very good shape. Although it needed some TLC. Gave it a thorough deep cleaning to get the considerable amount of dust out of the nooks & crannies, polished up the chrome platings & put on a fresh set of strings & did a setup.
I almost forgot how incredible this instrument sounds - extremely versatile of course, and a very rich & powerful tone! It literally makes all my other basses sound anemic in comparison. This is certainly going to be my #1 going forward, immediately. It sounds SO good - can give Stingray vibes for sure, also get other tones such as a very thick P-ish tone, even something that reminds me of an almost Ric-ish quality as well (to a lesser extent).
It's built like a tank - reminds of a muscle car from a much better bygone era, definitely built right & built to last. The fret work is very good, but I may do a fret level on it this weekend. It gets a good, low action already. But there's a tiny little buzz here or there when I ask it to play ridiculously low. But since this one won't EVER be going away again - it's worth my time & effort to make it as perfect as I possible can.
The ATK has tons of tones available & all of them sound fantastic! So thrilled to have this ATK back again!!

That bass was made for that strap!! Even better than the prior Ibanez SR you recently bought. Actually, the coil switch should be exactly as your ATK305, only thing different is that the 805E has a neck pickup to add to the choices of tones. The ATK805 gives a Blend knob to balance between the single coil neck pu & the Triple humbucker bridge coil.
