Active EQ bypassed, just the Big Singles by themselves. Slap
Slight Bass & Treble boost: Rock
Treble rolled back: Motown-ish
Mid scooped, slight bass boost: 80's
The preamp in these can be modified to have a more parametric Mids knob, where you can dial the frequency you wish to boost/cut. All it needs is a plug-in board with the knob.
They're using the same preamp on the headless ergonomic bass, which have that parametric knob.
Big Singles are The Best sounding pickups on the market in my opinion.
They have that Character that none other has. A lot of bass players don't enjoy that, but I love it. If someone wants a noiseless version with less Character, then the Big Split is the next best thing.

I don't see myself doing any mods with the preamp - it sounds great as-is, but interesting that it CAN be modded.
Agreed on the Big Singles - I've tried many of the big-name aftermarket pickups and the Big Singles are something special. Nordstrand really hit a home-run with these.
They solved the thin neck problem with Titanium inserts earlier, but I think they've since moved to Graphite.
I would not own an Ibanez without the reinforcement rods.
The BTB doesn't need them, thicker necks, but they are heavy in comparison to SR.

I didn't know that about the titanium to graphite switch. Mine has a KTS Reinforced Neck sticker on the back so I'm assuming they're still using Titanium rods at least for some current models, or perhaps until they are phased out? Mine was made in December 2021 if I'm reading the SN right.
As far as older SR's, my 705 is holding up great since 2012. No neck issues or neck movement whatsoever. I don't think that one has rods at all but I could be mistaken.
KTS does Titanium bars, those are nice, but heavier than the new Graphite rods.
Maybe the Graphite is only in the EHB.
Some necks are fine, but it's a crapshoot in my experience. I've owned many Ibanez & returned far too many due to the neck being like a willow in the breeze.
The worst was a SR600 with Walnut stripers.

Nice! I was <this> close to getting that one instead - that blue finish looks beautiful, it was a difficult choice.
I bet that 15-piece neck is amazing!
Very nice. I can't get into the Nordstrands. I enjoyed my 1200e and even gigged it a bit, but the tone is just too snappy and overly articulate. I want more fatness and swamp while still having access to modern tones, so of the new Ibanezes, the Aguilar equipped basses are my favorites.
One last P-ish clip - I felt like I've kinda glossed over the P-style aspect of this bass.
I felt I could do better to showcase it, because I feel this instrument can do an amazingly good P-like tone (for not having a true split-coil anyway).
