NBD: Is This Real Life??

So this may very well be the coolest thing I've ever scored. Through a friend of a friend, I was given a "for parts" bass, guy said the pickups were shot. He didn't have an amp for me to try to solve the problem, said if I wanted it I could have it. Upon getting it home, I plugged it in without realizing my muff was kicked on, and got a bit of buzz. Dead pickups shouldn't buzz, so I got excited. This is when I figured out that the covers for the pots were broken with the volume pots turned down. After letting the dude know, he said he didn't play anyway and I could keep it. So a couple of knobs later, I had my hands on a super gnarly Squier VM Jazz 77. And honestly, this thing has taken my playing to a much more fun place. I was never comfortable playing with my fingers on my crappy 90's affinity p, and this thing is a godsend. It's breathed new life into my playing, and I can finally rock that fingerstyle that I never could before. I don't fully understand why, but I don't care. Either way, I'm thrilled.

TL;DR I got a practically free bass that makes me play better. Yay :D

At one point I had a VM Jazz 5 and the neck was the most uncomfortable thing I had ever touched. I initially blamed the jazz size, but I've since realized I'm just not a five string kinda guy haha. It was a nice surprise :)
