I never had a preconceived notion of how they should look lol... Just they were a bit wonky when they first came out... you know something a bit different. I had to try just due to them working with BMW to get the design they wanted right. And I'm pretty sure they nailed it! As far as finish goes that Starry Night is gorgeous the Neptune Blue and the Stealth Black are great too... wth I'm not picky ill take em all... lord forbid they release a purple one.. I'd sell a kidney I think lol

This. The Starry Night package is super cool. The contours and curves of the Bongo really shows it off. You have a killer neck too, completes the package.

Big kudos to EBMM, not only is this bass beautiful, the set up on it from the factory is perfect. Great low action, no fret buzz, and perfectly in tune. I know it came that way from the factory given the my dealer opened the sealed box in front of me this afternoon.

I would love to get one of those but I am really bugged about how much variability there is in the weights. I am leaning towards the Sterling 5HH
but I have seen a weight on those as high as 10.5 pounds. Sorry but that is just too dang heavy. I wish they had an "ultralight" model at about
9 pounds. Maybe if they reduced the amount of lead in the paint they get from China.

Well you are not able to order them from EBMM anymore since the ordering window closed a year ago.

You will have to buy an existing bass and should be able to find out the weight before hand.

Some retailers still have Starry Nights available, but not sure which models and configs.

Yes you are right I found one, and that is the one that is 10.5 pounds. I would have preferred the matching headstock, but that one does not have one. I very much like the look of the ebony fingerboard, but I am wondering if the board plus the ceramic pickups is going to make the tone too
harsh and strident. Also, I remember someone commenting how they did not like the steel frets.
What do you suggest? I could either wait and see what next year's new instrument line up was, or buy the heavy bass and see if I could deal with it.

Can't help you on the sound of the frets. Mine is fretless. But as in everything, some people will like one thing, and others will hate it.

Weight makes a big difference to some folks. Others it is not as big a deal. Strap you use can also help with the weight. Skinny strap will kill you. Wide padded strap will help.

Maybe go to a store and try and find a heavy bass. Then play it for a while and see how you feel?

There is supposed to be some BFR basses coming out later this year, but no PDN this year. Can wait to see what the BFR offerings are to see if you like them better.
